Technical Glitch Halts TGRTC Services: Telangana’s Mancherial district witnessed public transport halted for a while when Intelligent Ticket Issue Machine (i-TIMS). An Android machine, suffered a technical glitch, causing service to be disrupted for thousands of commuters. Conductors operate the i-TIMS system, an Android machine. To issue bus tickets, but a technical glitch impacted its functioning for a couple of hours, halting regular movement on several routes.
According to official records, the issue began at 3 AM, where conductors witnessed system failure. Making them unable to issue tickets to commuters. It resulted in disruption and delayed services, where commuters were stranded. Conductors attributed inability to fix the situation, as the malfunction with the device was not their mistake.
At 6 AM, the server problems had been isolated and resolved by the authorities so the conductors could issue tickets normally. S. Janardhan, depot in-charge of Mancherial, stated that TIMS system database and servers suffered temporary issues, which were immediately resolved.
It was later reported that the technical snag had not been limited to Mancherial alone. With other Telangana depots experiencing the same issue. Despite officials being able to cover up in time, the temporary shutdown served a purpose of bringing out the importance of having a robust system in order to prevent future breakdowns.
Due to the progressive ticketing system, the public transport authorities are pressed to make the system streamlined so that commuters are not obstructed. The authorities need to analyze the performance of TIMS and take the required steps to prevent setbacks.

TGRTC services have been restored so far, providing relief to commuters. The accident, however, is an eye-opener that proper administration of public transport is the key to smooth running.
