Telangana B.Tech Quota Seats: Private engineering colleges in Telangana are acting uncontrollably in terms of fees. College managements are financially exploiting the parents of students by charging different types of fees. While 70 percent of the seats in each college are filled through counseling, the remaining 30 percent of the seats are being filled through management quota. This is becoming a boon for colleges. Regardless of the students’ EAMCET rank and marks, managements are exploiting students who have passed intermediate. Fees ranging from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh are being charged for each seat in the CSE group in B.Tech. Due to this, the parents of the students are facing financial difficulties as they are unable to pay that much.
In the last few days, the demand for filling management quota seats in private engineering colleges online has been increasing. Contrary to the rules, colleges are selling management seats to those who pay the most money. Although higher education authorities are ready to put a stop to these irregularities, they have backed down due to lack of government permission. Parents of students are demanding that the government provide immediate clarity on this as the B.Tech admissions process will begin soon.

There are huge demands and requests from parents and student unions that the government should take up the filling of management quota and NRI quota seats in engineering colleges. In line with these demands, last year, the Higher Education Council officials wrote a letter to the government stating that they are ready to fill B category seats through counseling. They clearly stated that BTech seats will also be filled online like MBBS.
However, the then government ignored it. New fees are going to come into effect in B.Tech this year. Although the EAMCET (APSET) results have already been released, the admission notification has not yet come. At this time, parents and students are demanding that the government clarify the B category seat filling policy. They feel that filling the management seats online will put a stop to the illegal business of colleges.
