UPI Down:
UPI has brought a digital payment revolution in India. People now prefer digital payments over cash. UPI usage increased across all age groups. Most people use UPI daily for shopping, food, bills and more.
NPCI shared that more than 400,000 UPI transactions happen every minute. Every hour, India processes around 23 million UPI payments. This heavy load causes frequent server crashes.
UPI Lite helps solve this problem. NPCI launched UPI Lite to allow offline payments. Users send money without needing the internet. UPI Lite works like a small wallet inside apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm.
Users load up to ₹4,000 into UPI Lite each day. Each payment can be up to ₹500. These payments do not need UPI PINs. The app stores balance and sends money without connecting to the main server. QR code scans complete the process.
UPI Lite helps users in low network areas. Payments work even when mobile data fails. People use UPI Lite in trains, rural areas and crowded events. No payment delays happen in these places.
Another option is NFC (Near Field Communication). Phones with NFC send payments by tapping on POS machines. Cards can be added to apps like Google Pay. No internet required for the transaction. Once the device connects again, accounts update the payment.
NFC and UPI Lite provide simple and fast digital solutions. They help people avoid stress during technical issues. Payments go through smoothly without cash or internet.
Digital payments in India keep growing. UPI Lite plays a big role in this shift. It makes small payments fast, easy and reliable.
