Who is Nipun Aggarwal?
Air India Express new Chairman Nipun Aggarwal has served as a Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer since 2022. Previously he worked as the senior vice president at Tata sons. In this position he specialized in commercial aviation, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, bank law and many others. According to his LinkedIn profile, before serving in Air India he worked in Bank of America, Standard Chartered Bank, BP PLC and L&T.
Education Background:
Nipun has completed his postgraduation Diploma in Management, Finance from IIM, Calcutta. Apart from this he completed his bachelors of engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering.
Campbell Wilson will be replaced by Nipun Aggarwal as the airline controlled by the Tata Group continues its restructuring. According to a memo cited by Reuters, Wilson Campbell would be replaced on the Air India board by Basil Kwauk, the company’s COO. Two years after the Tata Group took over, Air India is still undergoing reform. Four airlines were combined into two by the Tata Group: Air India and Air India Express, which thereafter merged with AirAsia.

In the recent report, Air India is planning to expand into multi-billion-dollar deals for widebody jets. According to media sources, China has requested that airlines not accept Boeing aircraft deliveries because of the intensifying trade war. In light of this event, Air India may be interested in purchasing aircraft that China has refused.
