Google Maps is the largest and most used app for navigation today, but sometimes some problems arise in it too. The latest case is of Google Maps history being deleted. Actually, a few days ago, the location history of Google Maps users was deleted. Google has also confirmed that Google removed location history and there is a problem with Maps. Let’s understand how this happened.
Google said in a statement to English tech news site The Verge that it was a technical glitch, due to which the timeline data of some users got deleted, although the company did not clarify how many users this glitch is affecting. If your data was backed up on Google Cloud, then you can easily recover it, but if you did not turn on the cloud backup setting, then your data has been deleted forever, and it is not possible to get it back.

How to check if your Maps data is safe or not?
You can check if your Timeline data is being backed up by following the steps below:
Open the Google Maps app (on Android or iOS devices).
Tap the profile icon (your photo).
Select the “Your Timeline” option.
Look for the cloud icon on the screen—it will show enabled or disabled.
If disabled, tap the Backup option and enable it.
Google saves your Timeline data in encrypted format. The data will be backed up only when your device is connected to Wi-Fi, charging, and not being used.
