KYC Status Online:
Before investing in mutual funds, it is important to make sure that your KYC (Know Your Customer) details are correct and updated. Without a valid KYC, you may face problems in buying or selling mutual fund units.
You can easily check your KYC status online. Just visit the website of any Asset Management Company (AMC) or a Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA). Enter your Permanent Account Number (PAN) and complete the captcha. The system will show your KYC status, which may be validated, registered, on hold, or rejected.
If your KYC is validated, you don’t need to take any further action. You can invest or redeem mutual funds without any restrictions.
This status allows you to continue transactions in your existing mutual fund accounts. However, if you want to invest in a new mutual fund where you don’t have an account, you will need to update your KYC. By linking your PAN with Aadhaar through XML, DigiLocker, or M-Aadhaar, you can change the status to validated.
If your KYC is on hold or rejected, it means there is an issue with your details. Common reasons include an unverified mobile number or email ID, PAN not linked with Aadhaar, or incomplete KYC documents. You must correct these errors on the AMC or RTA website to update your KYC status.
For updates or corrections, you can use the eKYC Modification page available on the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) website. This portal covers major AMCs such as HDFC Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential, Kotak Mahindra, and Mirae Asset.
Once your details are fixed and verified, your status will change to registered or validated, allowing you to continue investing smoothly.
Keeping your KYC details updated not only ensures a hassle-free investment experience but also helps you stay compliant with regulations.
