AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Faces Criminal Charges

Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan: Tamil Nadu police booked Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in a criminal case, triggering a significant political stir. Officers at the Anna Nagar Police Station registered the case after advocate Vanjinathan filed a complaint against the Deputy CM.

The complaint pointed to Pawan Kalyan’s participation in the Muruga Bhakthargal Maanadu held last month in Madurai. At the event, Pawan appeared in traditional attire, wearing a panchakacham and vibhuti, and reportedly delivered a speech that allegedly violated public conduct norms and incited religious sentiment. Acting on the complaint, police charged Pawan Kalyan under IPC Sections 196(1)(a), 299, 302, and 353(1)(b)(2). They accused him of promoting enmity based on religion and region, stating that his remarks had the potential to provoke communal tensions. Police also named Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai as a co-accused in the case. Investigators have begun probing the matter.

Case Filed For Hate Speech:

Tamil Nadu police booked Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for allegedly promoting religious disharmony through his remarks at a religious gathering in Madurai. Officers at the Anna Nagar Police Station filed the case after reviewing Pawan Kalyan’s speech at the Muruga Bhakthargal Maanadu, held last month. At the event, Pawan appeared in traditional attire, panchakacham and vibhuti, and delivered a speech that many perceived as provocative. He stated, “Some atheists are living in the name of God. They only target Hinduism. Christians and Muslims can follow their faiths freely, but when Hindus practice their religion, it becomes an issue. This is not secularism, it is pseudo-secularism.” He accused critics of belittling Hindu beliefs and emphasized the strength drawn from devotion, saying, “If you believe in Murugan, you gain strength. The Skandha Shashti Kavacham steels the mind and sweetens life.”

Pawan also took indirect aim at DMK leaders like Udhayanidhi Stalin for their criticism of Sanatana Dharma. Using metaphorical language, he said, “No matter how many rats are there, a single cobra’s hiss will send them running.” He further questioned whether these critics had the courage to speak against religions that originated outside India, asking, “Do they have the courage to question those who came from Arabia in the same way?” Acting on a complaint from advocate Vanjinathan, the police booked Pawan Kalyan under IPC Sections 196(1)(a), 299, 302, and 353(1)(b)(2). The complaint also named Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai for similar reasons. Authorities have launched an investigation into the case.
