AP Government Faces Pressure to Fill Power Sector Posts

Power Sector Posts: Since 2017, no new employees have been hired in Andhra Pradesh’s fuel and energy companies. This includes major companies like GENCO, TRANSCO, and DISCOMs. These companies are responsible for producing and supplying electricity to homes and businesses.

Power Sector Posts:

Many engineers and employees have retired in recent years. However, their positions were not filled. The government says it is avoiding recruitment due to “financial management” reasons. As a result, the number of employees is going down while the number of vacancies is increasing.

In 2017, when the TDP government was in power, some hiring was done for engineering posts. But since then, there have been no recruitment drives.

Before coming to power, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to release a Job Calendar every January. This calendar was supposed to list all upcoming government jobs. Unfortunately, during the five years of his rule, the calendar was either changed or not followed. No jobs were announced in any year.

Because of this, unemployed youth across the state became unhappy. In the 2023 Graduate MLC elections, many young voters strongly rejected the ruling party. Later, in the 2024 general elections, Jagan’s party could win only 11 seats.

Now that a new alliance government is in power, unemployed engineering graduates are once again demanding job notifications. They are urging the new leaders to fill the empty positions in the power sector. These youth believe that filling these jobs will not only reduce unemployment but also help in the proper management of electricity services in the state.

Vacant jobs in Andhra Pradesh’s energy sector are a major concern. Young graduates want the government to act fast and announce new job openings. The public is hoping the new government will fulfill their promises.
