Apple Expands Hyderabad Office:
Apple has increased its presence in Hyderabad by leasing an extra 64,000 square feet of office space at the Waverock campus in Nanakramguda, near Gachibowli. This is one of the main IT hubs in the city. The company will pay a monthly rent of around Rs 80 lakh for the new space. The lease period is five years and Apple has paid a security deposit of about Rs 4.8 crore. The rent will also increase by nearly 4.8 percent every year.
This move comes at a time when the U.S. government, under President Donald Trump, has increased tariffs on Indian imports. Trump has also urged companies like Apple to move more manufacturing back to the U.S. Because of these pressures, Apple CEO Tim Cook had earlier promised a $100 billion investment in America.
Despite this, India remains important for Apple. The Hyderabad office has been one of Apple’s largest development centers in the country since it opened in 2016. It mainly works on Apple Maps and focuses on geospatial technology and data modeling. Expanding the Hyderabad office shows that Apple continues to invest in its Indian operations.
Apple is also growing in other cities. In Bengaluru, the company has taken 2.7 lakh square feet of space on a 10-year lease worth over Rs 1,000 crore. On the retail side, Apple is opening new flagship stores in Bengaluru and Pune soon, adding to its Mumbai and Delhi stores.
Meanwhile, Apple’s manufacturing partners are also expanding in India. Foxconn, a major Apple supplier, has started producing AirPods at its Hyderabad plant for export.
India is a big part of Apple’s strategy to grow in premium smartphone markets. By investing in offices, manufacturing, and retail stores, Apple is strengthening its base in the country despite global trade challenges.
