Baal Aadhaar Update Alert: If your child was assigned an Aadhaar card before their fifth birthday, action must be taken. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issued a news flash stating that biometric updates may be required for all children between the ages of 5 to 7; otherwise, it may lead to deactivation of the Aadhaar number-the consequence of which could bring further delays in school admissions, government benefits, and scholarships.
When Aadhaar is created for infants, fingerprint and iris information is not collected. The biometrics of the child must be verified as the child grows. An update becomes necessary for the identification of direct benefit transfers, government examinations, and access to services effectively.
UIDAI is Alerting Parents via SMS
To cause less harm to the child, UIDAI has started to send SMS alerts to parents of children aged above 5 years, reminding them to update the Aadhaar card and thereby prevent deactivation.
