Bank Holiday on Aug 2:
Banks in India will remain closed for 15 days in August due to festivals and national holidays. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banks will close on both weekends and major holidays.August has five Saturdays and five Sundays. Typically, banks close on the second and fourth Saturdays and on all Sundays.
The first and third Saturdays of the month are working days for banks, as per RBI guidelines. However, two major festivals fall on Saturdays in August. This can confuse customers about banking operations during weekends.
On August 2 (Saturday), the first Saturday of the month, there are no festivals. Banks will remain open and operations will continue as usual. On August 9 (Saturday), Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated. Banks will be closed on this day as it is the second Saturday of the month.
The third Saturday of August, which is August 16, will also be a holiday in many states. This is due to the Janmashtami celebrations. The fourth Saturday, August 23, will be a holiday as per RBI guidelines. Therefore, only the fifth Saturday August 30 will be a working day for banks.
It is advised that customers check their local branches for specific holiday updates to avoid any inconvenience.
