Bank Holiday Today:
Today, October 22, 2025, several states across India are observing a bank holiday due to major regional festivals like Balipadyami, Lakshmi Puja, and Vikram Samvat New Year. As per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks in some key states will remain closed today, and people are advised to plan their financial transactions accordingly.
According to the RBI bank holiday calendar, banks in the following states — Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar — will remain closed today. The holidays are being observed to mark regional traditions and religious celebrations associated with the post-Diwali period.
However, customers need not worry. All digital and online banking services will continue to work as usual. People can still perform important activities such as fund transfers, bill payments, and UPI transactions through their mobile banking apps or internet banking portals.
ATM services will remain available across all states. So, cash withdrawals and balance checks can be done easily. However, in-branch services like cash deposits, demand drafts, cheque clearances, and account settlements will not be available until the next working day.
Bank officials have urged customers to complete any urgent financial transactions beforehand to avoid last-minute issues. Since the festive season is ongoing, there are several holidays lined up this month in various states, depending on regional festivals and local customs.
Financial experts also advise checking the RBI bank holiday list for your region before visiting any branch. While private and public sector banks will follow the holiday schedule, cooperative and rural banks may have different local timings based on the area.
So, before stepping out, it’s best to confirm your branch schedule and enjoy the festive day without any banking worries.
