Bank Holidays in October 2025:
October 2025 is one of the most festive months in India, with several important national and regional celebrations lined up. From Gandhi Jayanti to Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, the month is packed with holidays when banks across different states will remain closed. Knowing the complete list of bank holidays in advance will help people plan their financial activities without any last-minute issues.
Bank holidays are declared either at the national level or state level. While holidays like Gandhi Jayanti are observed across India, regional festivals such as Chhath Puja, Karva Chauth, or Kati Bihu are only observed in specific states. Since banks follow the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) guidelines, these closures include national holidays, state-specific holidays, as well as regular weekend offs like Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
By keeping track of these dates, individuals and businesses can plan ahead—whether it’s withdrawing cash, depositing money, or completing official banking work. It also ensures smooth financial transactions and prevents delays in payments or transfers.
According to RBI rules, there are 21 bank holidays in October 2025, which include Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays. However, not all states observe the same holidays. For example, Durga Puja is a major holiday in West Bengal, while Diwali is celebrated widely across northern and western India.
