Richest Chief Ministers List:
In a recent report by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the National Election Watch (NEW), Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has been ranked as the wealthiest CM in India. With assets worth over ₹931 crores, Naidu leads the list, leaving behind several other notable political figures.
Following him in second place is Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, whose assets are valued at ₹332 crores. Karnataka’s CM Siddaramaiah stands third with assets worth ₹51 crores. On the opposite end of the spectrum, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee holds the lowest rank with assets valued at just ₹15 lakh.
The report was based on affidavits submitted by 30 Chief Ministers during elections. The average asset of these CM’s is ₹54.42 crores, with their total combined assets amounting to ₹1,632 crores. The report also highlighted that two of the Chief Ministers in the list are billionaires.
Among these, Chandrababu Naidu stands out for his involvement with Heritage Foods, a company founded in 1992. Although Naidu doesn’t hold shares in the company, his wife, Nara Bhuvaneswari, owns 24.37% of the shares, which contributes to his wealth. Heritage Foods’ market capitalization has grown from ₹25 crores in 1995 to a massive ₹4,381 crores.
Other notable mentions include Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, who ranks seventh on the list with assets of ₹30 crores but also carries a debt of ₹1 crore. Meanwhile, Pema Khandu has debts amounting to ₹180 crores, and Siddaramaiah carries debts of ₹23 crores.
The financial details reflect the growing political economy and the influence of these leaders in shaping the state’s growth.
