Dwarka Expressway-UER-II: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two major road projects on Sunday: the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). These projects aim to make travel from Noida to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport considerably easier.
Media reports state that the new routes will cut travel time from Noida to IGI Airport to just 20 minutes. They will also ease traffic on the city’s congested Ring Road and provide commuters from western Delhi and the National Capital Region suburbs with a more comfortable ride.
Once completed, these projects will reduce traffic on inner roads and provide easy access to NH-48, NH-44, the Ring Road, and the Barapullah elevated corridor. The government estimates the cost of UER-II at around ₹3,300 crore.
Dwarka Expressway-UER-II inauguration:
Prime Minister Modi is going to inaugurate four of the five packages of UER-II on Sunday, around 12.30 PM. Along with this, Prime Minister Modi is going to inaugurate phases three and four of the Dwarka Expressway. This inauguration is going to take place in Rohini.
More details about UER-II and Dwarka Expressway:
UER-II:
At a cost of ₹6,445 crore, the 75.71 km UER-II road was built in five packages, with 21.50 km in Haryana and 54.21 km in Delhi. Bypassing traffic at Dhaula Kuan and Delhi’s ring highways, it will allow citizens of Gurugram, west, and south Delhi to go to NH-44, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir more quickly once it is operational.

Dwarka Expressway:
Moreover, access to Gurugram improves through the 5.1 km tunnel that connects the Dwarka Expressway, which spans 10.1 km in Delhi, to IGI Airport as part of Packages 3 and 4. Earlier, in March 2024, the Prime Minister officially opened Packages 1 and 2, which covered the Haryana portion — the 29-kilometer stretch on NH-48 between Mahipalpur and Kherki Daula.
Upcoming Projects:
By connecting UER-II to the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway near Akshardham Temple, authorities will provide faster routes for traffic from Haryana and Rajasthan traveling to Dehradun. They have also approved an additional 65 km of highway to connect Tronica City to the under-construction FNG Expressway. This new highway will link the five main expressways in the National Capital Region: the Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Meerut, Noida-Greater Noida, DND-Faridabad, and Yamuna Expressways.
