DYK THIS Indian Train Serves Free Meals All Day ?

India Free Meal Train:
India has one of the largest railway networks in the world, with millions of people travelling daily. Most passengers either carry their own food or buy it from railway canteens. But one special train, the Sachkhand Express, offers something truly unique. Passengers on this train receive freshly cooked meals breakfast, lunch, and dinner completely free during their journey.

India Free Meal Train;

The Sachkhand Express (Train No. 12715) runs between Nanded in Maharashtra and Amritsar in Punjab, covering around 2,000 kilometres with 39 stops. The route is deeply connected to Sikh history. Nanded is where the 10th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, spent his final days, and Amritsar is home to the Golden Temple, the holiest place in Sikhism. Because of this, the train is often seen as a spiritual journey on wheels rather than just a mode of transport.

Started in the 1990s, the service continues to uphold the Sikh tradition of langar, which represents equality, charity, and selfless service. The free meals are prepared with donations collected by gurdwaras along the route. Regardless of class—be it General, Sleeper, or AC—every passenger receives the same meal, symbolizing equality among all.

The menu includes simple yet nutritious dishes like dal, chole, khichdi, and vegetable curries. Passengers are expected to bring their own utensils to maintain hygiene and avoid food waste.

More than a train, the Sachkhand Express stands as a living example of compassion and humanity. For thousands who travel on it, the journey offers not only a destination but also a heartwarming reminder of unity and generosity that defines the Sikh faith.
