Global Passport Index 2025: The Indian passport is at its best on the Henley Passport Index, opening avenues to 59 countries without visa in 2025, and marking a huge leap for Indian travelers. Indian citizens could travel to 59 countries, provided they could either access them without a visa or obtain one at arrival, marking an increase from 57 in 2024. Fiji
Jamaica
Serbia
Mauritius

What Exactly Caused Improvement in the Indian Passport?
Many reasons contributed to the rise:

-better diplomatic ties with neighboring countries as well as trade partners.

-bilateral agreements offering easier mobility for tourism and business.

-india’s increasingly powerful economy and soft power going international.

-there has been a greater volume of travel outbound from India for tourism, which has made countries adapt their rules to invite more Indian tourists.

How This Changes Indian Travelers
Strengthened passports mean greater travel flexibility, less documentation hassle, and savings on costs of visa applications. It possesses the power of opening windows for entrepreneurs, students, and digital nomads looking to advance into global opportunities.

For instance, visits to Thailand or Indonesia at the spur of the moment are now easier because it does not require visas for staying there for a few days. Such steadily growing numbers of visa-free countries won’t restrict Indians from traveling freely but rather encourage cultural exchange and bilateral business networking.
