Guru Purnima 2025: Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains all celebrate Guru Purnima, also called Vyasa Purnima, as a way to thank their gurus and teachers. It occurs during the month of Ashadha, which is July in the Gregorian calendar, on the day of the full moon. Similarly to the teachings of Lord Mahavira and the first speech of Lord Buddha, this day marks the birth of Sage Ved Vyasa, who composed the Vedas.
A common theme in Sadhguru’s teachings on Guru Purnima is that a true guru is a guide who brightens the way from darkness to light, not only a teacher. He advises people to enjoy the significant influence that educators have on forming lives and to recognize the strength of inbuilt wisdom.
On this Guru Purnima day, Sadh Guru posted a heartfelt post on his official X account:
“On this Guru Purnima day, dedicate yourself to your inner wellbeing. Do your sadhana, meditate, make a Miracle of your Mind. Grace of your Guru is with You. Much Love & Blessings -Sadhguru”

On this sacred day of Guru Purnima, devotees bow in deep reverence to the Gurus who grace their lives. They honor not only the teachers and guides who walk alongside them in this physical world, offering wisdom and direction, but also the Guru within, the eternal presence of Divinity residing in every heart.
Through sadhana and meditation, seekers strive to reconnect with that inner light, the quiet yet unwavering guide that never leads them astray. It is a time when many reflect on the profound blessings of having both an external mentor and an inner compass, each playing a vital role in their spiritual journey. Guru Purnima thus becomes a celebration of gratitude, devotion, and the timeless bond between the seeker and the source of true knowledge.
