Telangana Rains: Rains continue to lash Telangana due to a surface depression over the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for five districts, an orange alert for nine districts, and a yellow alert for five others. The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts, placing them under a red alert.
Orange Alert Districts in Telangana:
An orange alert has been issued for Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Ranga Reddy, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Mulugu, Peddapalli, and Siddipet districts, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.
Yellow Alert Districts in Telangana:
The authorities sounded a yellow alert for parts of Adilabad, Jagtial, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Rajanna Sircilla districts, warning of heavy rains in isolated areas. The IMD predicted thundershowers and gusty winds in several parts of all 33 districts of Telangana. Given the forecast, the Telangana government went on alert. The School Education Department declared holidays for schools in five districts today and tomorrow and directed schools in Greater Hyderabad to operate only single-day classes.

Schools Closed for 5 Days in Telangana:
Continuous rains over the past four to five days have forced authorities to close schools in Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts. In addition, the School Education Department announced that schools under the GHMC limits will conduct classes for only one day today and tomorrow. Furthermore, with Independence Day falling on August 15, authorities will also keep schools closed on that day.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed in-charge ministers and officials to stay vigilant and directed Hyderabad authorities to remain on alert for possible flooding in the city. In a related move, the government allowed IT employees and other staff to work from home on Wednesday. Special Chief Secretary (IT) Sanjay Kumar announced this decision, explaining that the measure aims to prevent difficulties caused by waterlogging and traffic disruptions due to heavy rains.
