Fraudulent Loans on Your PAN Card:
In today’s digital world, financial frauds are increasing every day. One of the most common scams involves the misuse of PAN card details. Many cases have been reported where fraudsters take loans using someone else’s PAN card information. This not only causes mental stress but also affects a person’s credit score. So, it is very important to check if your PAN card is being misused.
Almost everyone in India now has a PAN card as it is mandatory for bank accounts and financial transactions. However, due to lack of awareness, some people unknowingly share their PAN details. Cybercriminals collect this data and apply for loans in other people’s names. There have been incidents where tribal communities’ PAN cards were misused for crores of loans.
To confirm whether someone has taken a loan using your PAN card, you need to check your credit report. You can get it from credit bureaus like CIBIL, Equifax, or Experian. These reports contain details of all loans, credit cards, and outstanding balances linked to your PAN. If you find any loan that you never applied for, it means your PAN card has been misused. Also, keep an eye on “hard inquiries” in the report, as they indicate loan applications.
1. Immediately inform the concerned bank with a written complaint.
2. Clearly state that you did not apply for the loan.
3. Take an acknowledgment from the bank.
4. File an FIR at the nearest police station.
5. If necessary, complain to the RBI Ombudsman.
Never share your PAN or Aadhaar details on WhatsApp or with unknown people.
Avoid uploading PAN details on unauthorized websites.
Verify the authenticity of shops or financial agencies before giving your PAN.
If your PAN card is lost, apply for a duplicate immediately.
Regularly check your credit report and enable SMS/email alerts for loan activities.
Protecting your PAN card is protecting your financial future. A little caution can save you from big losses.
