Hyderabad Water Supply Alert: 48-Hr Cut in Several Areas from Sep 9 to 11

Hyderabad Water Supply Alert: Residents of Hyderabad need to get ready for an important update from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). The Board has announced that there will be a major water supply disruption in many parts of the city for 48 hours, starting from September 9, 2025, at 6:00 AM to September 11, 2025, at 6:00 AM.

Hyderabad Water Supply Alert:

This disruption is due to repair and replacement work on the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Phase-1 Project. Officials are carrying out the replacement of 900 mm dia valves on the 3000 mm dia MS pumping main at Murmur, Mallaram, and Kondapaka pumping stations. These works are necessary to improve the long-term supply system but will cause temporary inconvenience to several localities.

The water cut will impact multiple divisions across Hyderabad. Some of the key affected places include:

Division 6 (SR Nagar): Sanathnagar, Borabanda, Erragadda, Somajiguda, SR Nagar, Venkatravunagar, and parts of Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.

7th Division: Parts of Lalapet and Tarnaka.

Division 9: Kukatpally, Vivekanandanagar, Moosapet, KPHB, Motinagar, and nearby colonies.

12th Division: Chintal, Suchitra, Jeedimetla, Shapur Nagar, Gajularamaram, Suryaram, and Jagadgirigutta.

Other divisions like Hafeezpet, Miyapur, Kompally, Nizampet, Bachupally, and nearby rural zones like Aler and Ghanpur will also be affected.

Advice to Citizens

The HMWSSB has urged residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it carefully during the 48-hour cut. Citizens are requested to avoid wastage and plan their needs in advance.

While this temporary interruption may cause inconvenience, the water board explained that these works are essential to ensure better and uninterrupted supply in the future.
