Hyderabad Water Supply Disruption: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has informed about stopping the supply of drinking water for two days in different areas of the city. This suspension of water services has been necessitated due to urgent repairs being carried out on a leakage of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-3, one of the most crucial networks serving millions of people in the city.
It was discovered that there was a major leakage in one of the main pipelines connected to the Krishna Phase-3 project. Maintenance teams will carry large-scale work to repair this leakage and to prevent damage to the project further. Water supply will hence remain suspended for two days in many areas of Hyderabad.
According to HMWSSB, the following areas will not have water supply or will be under low/very low pressure during this time:
Kondapur, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Jubilee Hills, Mehdipatnam, Vanasthalipuram, Uppal, Rampalli, Boduppal, Saroornagar, Bandlaguda, Shamshabad, and Nagole.
Residents of these areas are warned not to waste any time in accumulation of sufficient water beforehand to be used wisely until regular supply resumes.
Water Board officials appealed to the citizens to be patient and cooperate during the repairs. The closure has been instituted in the interest of protecting long-term water distribution stability into the future in order to avoid the kind of severe disruptions that would be caused by future leakages. The department has also assured immediate restoration after completing the repair operations.
According to this, one should plan their daily needs accordingly and not wastefully use the stored water during this time. The HMWSSB has also set up helpline numbers for any water-related grievances or emergencies during this period.
