Till tomorrow morning, a red alert for abnormally heavy rainfall is warned over Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad as per the IMD. When a red alert is issued, it means that extremely heavy rainfall will occur, generally more than 20 cm in 24 hours, and there are chances that life would be extremely disrupted.
Orange alerts were given for the following districts for heavy to very heavy rainfall:
Kamareddy
Komaram Bheem Asifabad
Mancherial
Medak
Sangareddy
The rest of Telangana comprising Warangal, Hanumakonda, Adilabad, Jangaon, Khammam, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Siddipet, and Suryapet are also under varying layers of warning, depending on forecast intensity.
Hyderabad today has been experiencing light to moderate showers since the morning, with intermittent heavy downpours expected later in the day. The skies remain heavily overcast, and the temperature is fluctuating between 23 and 25°C.
Heavy showers have triggered flooding of low-lying areas, road washouts, and crop submergence across parts of northern and eastern Telangana. Reportedly, breaches of irrigation canals and disruption of transport have been additional woes for the local residents.
