Indian Stock Market Under Pressure:
The Indian stock market closed lower on Thursday. The Nifty ended at 24,500.90, down by 211.15 points. The Sensex dropped 705.97 points and closed at 80,080.57.
The 50% US tariff on Indian goods increased worries about trade and exports. This triggered selling pressure in the market. Foreign investors continued to sell, while domestic investors bought shares. However, their buying could not balance the fall.
Sector Update
Consumer Durables was the only sector that stayed positive. FMCG, Banking, IT, Power, Realty, and Telecom fell between 1% and 2%. The Midcap index fell 1.2%. The Small-cap index lost 1.4%.
Nifty and Bank Nifty Outlook
Experts say the Nifty remains weak. Support is expected around 24,300–24,250. Resistance could appear near 24,700. Bank Nifty also looks weak. It has broken its three-week range of 54,900–56,100. If it fails to stay above 55,000, it may fall to 53,500–53,000.
Impact of US Tariffs
The new tariffs will hurt textiles, jewellery, marine exports, leather, and footwear. These sectors depend heavily on the US. To reduce the impact, the government extended the import duty exemption on cotton till December.
Global Cues
Investors are waiting for US GDP numbers and jobless claims data. These global reports may affect the market trend.
Reliance Industries AGM
Reliance Industries will hold its 48th Annual General Meeting today. Investors are expecting key updates on new projects and strategies. Past AGMs announced major steps like 5G investments and the JioPhone launch.
