IRCTC Train Delay Compensation Policy 2025: In 2025, IRCTC maintains the compensation provisions regarding delay in trains for its passengers, particularly using some popular trains like Tejas Express and some selected services of Vande Bharat. This initiative would make travel convenient for passengers and facilitate their accountability among railway operations.


IRCTC Train Delay Compensation Policy 2025

All passengers are not entitled for compensation. Only those who booked through IRCTC travel tickets belong to this policy, especially under which part of the trains includes Travel Insurance Scheme or come under the punctuality guarantees by IRCTC. Check your ticket or IRCTC confirmation email to see if your journey is included.

1. Delay Thresholds & Compensation
2. Delay of 1–2 hours: ₹100 per passenger


3. Delay of more than 2 hours: ₹250 per passenger

This compensation is applicable only if the delay is not due to force majeure (natural disasters, strikes, etc.) and is attributed to railway operations.

How To Make Claim On Compensation
Make Sure You Took Travel Insurance: At the time of booking, you must have ticked on optional Travel Insurance that IRCTC offers.

Get Train Delay Confirmation: You can track actual arrival time through NTES app or IRCTC portal.

Go Meet Your Claims Process Partner Insurance Portal: IRCTC gets its benefits from insurance partners, like Liberty General Insurance. You will have a link to your claim sent to you via SMS/email when the journey is over.
