Elon Musk Macrohard:
Elon Musk has launched a new AI-based software company named Macrohard, aimed at competing with Microsoft’s software division. Announced via X (formerly Twitter), Musk stated that Macrohard will be a fully AI-driven company, working alongside his existing venture, xAI. He believes AI can simulate software companies like Microsoft, which do not produce hardware themselves.
“This is a playful name, but the project is very serious!” Musk confirmed in his post. He explained that, since Microsoft does not manufacture physical hardware, AI could potentially replace its operations. Musk’s xAI submitted a patent for Macrohard to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) earlier this month, with plans for AI-driven software like human speech generation and video game development.
Musk’s new venture may intensify his rivalry with Microsoft. Over recent years, Musk and Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, have had their differences. Musk has publicly criticized Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI, while also challenging the company’s AI development. Despite the tension, Musk’s Grok models were featured on Microsoft’s Azure platform in May, sparking more public discussions between the two tech giants.
While Microsoft has heavily invested in OpenAI’s models, Musk believes that Macrohard will offer superior AI-powered software that could outpace the current offerings in the market. His Grok 5 model, expected later this year, is part of his plan to prove AI’s potential in software development.
With Macrohard, Musk aims to revolutionize the software industry and take on tech giants, using the power of artificial intelligence to change how software companies operate.
