Is Universe’s Halfway to Its End? New Theory Predicts ‘Big Crunch’ in 33 Billion Years

New Theory Predicts the Universe’s End in 33 Billion Years

A new theory has scientists and internet users buzzing. Fresh data from sky surveys suggests the universe’s and Earth might be halfway to their end. According to this theory, dark energy, the force pushing the universe apart, could be evolving. If this holds true, the universe might collapse in 33 billion years much sooner than we thought.

While it sounds like science fiction, the theory is sparking serious discussions, especially on Reddit, with many questioning if the universe’s end is closer than expected.

Dark Energy May Be Changing

The theory stems from data gathered by the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). These surveys reveal that dark energy, once thought to be constant, might be changing over time. This challenges the belief that dark energy remains unchanged.

Scientists now propose a model where two components drive dark energy. Axions, ultralight particles that rarely interact with matter, and a negative cosmological constant, which could slow the universe’s expansion. Over time, axions would lose power, and the negative cosmological constant would take over, eventually reversing the universe’s expansion.

The Big Crunch: The Universe’s Final Act

According to the theory, the Big Crunch will occur when the negative cosmological constant dominates. This would mark the end of the universe’s expansion, beginning in 10 billion years. Over the following 10 billion years, the universe would contract, culminating in a final singularity.

The Big Crunch would be the reverse of the Big Bang, with galaxies merging and the universe becoming smaller, hotter, and denser. This process could result in the universe’s end in just 33 billion years.

The Internet Reacts

The theory has sparked heated debates online. While some are excited, others remain skeptical. The data is still in early stages, and more research is needed before it can be confirmed. This theory, though far from settled, has left many wondering: Is the universe really halfway to its end? Only time will tell.
