What is PAN 2.0
PAN 2.0 is a redesign of the current PAN system. It aims to better integrate with databases like Aadhaar, GST, and digital banking records. It shall work as a tax identity and serve as a central digital identity for financial transactions.
Need for Upgrade
It aims at minimizing duplicity and fraud in the financial systems.
Would allow real-time verification and monitoring of transactions.
Would allow for smooth interoperability amongst departments like Income Tax, GST, Customs, and Banking.
Things That May Change
Pan 2.0 may be having advanced security features like QR Codes, or encrypted signatures.
There may be built-in auto-syncing with Aadhar, GSTN, and financial institutions.
User-friendly online portals for updates and verifications.
It may become a single financial identity for all individuals and businesses.
Will I Need to Reapply for Old PANs?
Do not worry! The old PAN cards should automatically get upgraded or converted to PAN 2.0 as a proper transition with well-laid user-adoption procedures from the government is expected to be put in place.

When Is It Launching?
