Pawan Kalyan Faces HC Petition: Former IAS officer S. Vijay Kumar has filed a petition in the High Court against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan. In this petition, he has alleged that Pawan Kalyan misused government resources for the promotion of his recent film Harihara Veeramallu. In his petition, he has sought an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into these allegations.
Vijay Kumar, in his petition, alleged that Pawan Kalyan used government security personnel, official vehicles and other resources to promote his film. He opined that this was a misuse of public funds. Also said that it was unconstitutional for a government official to act in films and urged the High Court to declare this act as illegal. He requested that Pawan Kalyan be banned from acting in films henceforth.
The case came up for hearing before the High Court on Monday (August 12). On this occasion, government lawyer Jayanthi responded on behalf of the state home department. He objected to the inclusion of the Deputy Chief Minister as a respondent in his personal capacity. Similarly, the lawyer said that since the case is coming up for hearing for the first time, there is a need to hear the arguments of the Advocate General.
During the hearing of the case, Judge Justice Jyotirmayi Pratapa responded. He criticized the fact that the names of the public prosecutors from the CBI and ACB were not mentioned in the case list. For this reason, he issued instructions to the High Court Registry to include these details. The judge rejected the request made by the petitioner’s lawyer to issue notices to the respondents. He clarified that appropriate orders will be issued only after the preliminary hearing. The hearing was adjourned to next week.
The background of this case has become interesting in the state politics. Since Pawan Kalyan is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, these allegations and the High Court investigation have assumed importance. In the past, many ministers and Chief Ministers have acted in films while continuing to be. Andhra’s beloved actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao also acted in many films while being the Chief Minister. It remains to be seen what the verdict will be in the case of Pawan Kalyan.
