On Thursday, July 10, 2025, Tamil Nadu will experience scheduled power outages across various regions due to maintenance work conducted by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). Over 135 locations, including major cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Cuddalore, will be affected. Below are the details of the planned power cuts in each of these areas:

Power Cut Alert Today:

Around 50 locations in Chennai will face power disruptions during the day. Affected areas include:


Madambakkam: Madambakkam Main Road, Sudharsan Nagar, VGP Saravana Nagar, Sridevi Nagar, Aravind Nagar, and others.

Besant Nagar: Streets such as 6th to 15th Cross Street, 2nd and 1st Main Roads, RBI Quarters, Kakkan Colony, etc.

Sithalapakkam: Areas like Venkateswara Nagar, Thamarai Street, Somu Nagar, and Bell Nagar.

Pallikaranai: Rajesh Nagar, Kovalan Nagar, Velachery Main Road, Periyar Nagar, and more.

Coimbatore Power Cut (9 am – 4 pm)

Coimbatore will also experience power interruptions, affecting these locations:

Bharathi Colony, Peelamedu Pudhur, Sowripalayam, Nanjundapuram Road, and others.

Key industrial areas, including Ganapathy Industrial Estate and Trichy Road, will be impacted.

Madurai Power Cut (9 am – 5 pm)

Madurai will face outages in over 60 locations throughout the day. Some of the affected areas include:

MMC Colony, Avaniapuram, Perungudi, Ringroad, Airport, and several more.

The power cuts are necessary for ongoing maintenance to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the future. Residents in these areas are advised to make arrangements for backup power and plan accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during the outage hours.

What to Do:

1. Ensure Backup Power: Prepare your devices with portable chargers or backup generators.

2. Unplug Appliances: To avoid power surges when the electricity returns, unplug sensitive electronics.

3. Plan Ahead: Complete any essential tasks requiring electricity before the power cut times.
