Prince Harry Responds After Sentebale Probe Clears Him: “The Damage Is Done”

Prince Harry Breaks Silence on Sentebale Controversy

Prince Harry has broken his silence after the UK’s Charity Commission cleared him of any wrongdoing in the Sentebale scandal. The investigation, launched earlier this year, found no evidence of bullying, misogyny, or racism within the charity he co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

No Wrongdoing, But Damage Done

Despite being cleared of the allegations, Harry expressed his disappointment with the fallout. A spokesperson for the Duke stated, “While the report found no fault with Harry, the consequences of this drama will be borne by the children who rely on Sentebale’s support.” Harry emphasized that the charity’s core mission is at risk due to the leadership turmoil, not the individuals involved in the scandal.

Tensions with Chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka

The controversy began earlier in 2025 when the charity’s board fractured, resulting in the resignation of Harry and other members. The Duke and the board cited irreparable issues with current chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka, who refused to step down despite being asked. The fallout led to a public dispute and a legal battle.

Although the Charity Commission found no evidence of wrongdoing by Harry or Chandauka, they criticized the charity’s leadership for mishandling the internal conflicts. The Commission’s report highlighted the damaging effect the public disputes had on both Sentebale’s reputation and broader trust in charities.

Chandauka Defends Leadership, Claims Charity Is Stronger

Dr. Sophie Chandauka issued her own statement, claiming that the charity had emerged stronger from the crisis. She attributed the media backlash to those who resigned in March, calling the campaign “unacceptable” and asserting that Sentebale’s work with young people in Lesotho and Botswana continues to thrive.

However, a source close to Harry and Seeiso believes that the charity cannot move forward with Chandauka in charge, describing the situation as a “hostile takeover.”

Despite the Commission’s findings, the future of Sentebale remains uncertain. Both sides continue to clash over leadership, while the charity’s original mission faces further challenges.
