Raksha Bandhan 2025: Special Offers for Women Across All States

Raksha Bandhan 2025 will be celebrated nationwide on Saturday. Many women have already taken leave from work to be with their families. In celebration of the festival, various state governments have announced bumper offers for women, including free bus travel services.


Women visiting their brothers and families during the Rakhi festivities can now travel for free in many states. Here’s a complete list of states offering free bus services, along with the applicable dates and key details:

Uttar Pradesh:
The Yogi Adityanath government has announced free bus travel for women for three days during the Rakhi festival. The offer starts on Shravan Friday, from 6 a.m. on August 8 to midnight on August 10. Women can travel for free in UP SRTC buses as well as city buses operating in both urban and rural areas. The government has also announced that additional buses will be deployed to accommodate the increased passenger rush.


Rajasthan:
The Rajasthan government has provided free travel for women for two days. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has issued official orders for the same. Women can avail of free travel in all government buses in the state on Saturday and Sunday. This marks the first time such a facility has been introduced in Rajasthan.

Haryana:
The Haryana government has joined the list by offering free bus travel to women and children. The offer is valid from noon on Shravan Friday, August 8, until midnight on August 9. Transport Minister Anil Vij confirmed that the scheme also covers interstate services, including buses operating between Delhi and Chandigarh.

Madhya Pradesh:
The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has limited the free travel facility to select areas. Women in Bhopal and Indore will be able to travel free in city buses on August 9. Additionally, under the Ladli Behna Yojana, eligible women will receive a Raksha Bandhan bonus of ₹1,500 and a festival gift of ₹250. The state has distributed ₹43.9 crore to over 28 lakh women, including LPG subsidies.

Uttarakhand:
As in previous years, the Uttarakhand government is offering free bus travel for women and children on Raksha Bandhan. Women can avail of the facility on Rakhi day in cities such as Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula.

Other States:
The free bus travel scheme for women is already active in several states, including Punjab, Karnataka, and Delhi. In Delhi, the scheme is available to local women only in DTC buses. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana also continue to offer free travel facilities. In Andhra Pradesh, women will be able to travel free from August 15 onward.
