Ration Card Update: Full Details of Free Electricity Scheme

Ration Card Update: The distribution of new ration cards in Telangana is progressing rapidly. Since January 26, the government has been issuing new cards and adding members to existing ones.


⦿ So far, authorities have issued 7.95 lakh new ration cards.

⦿ Additionally, 11.37 lakh people have been added to existing cards.


⦿ As of July 28, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that Telangana has 97.9 lakh active ration cards, covering 3.15 crore beneficiaries.

⦿ In just six months, 33.97 lakh new beneficiaries have joined the scheme.

 

Although the final design of the new ration cards is still pending, CM Revanth Reddy and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy are currently issuing sanction documents with photographs. Beneficiaries can use these documents to access ration supplies starting in September.

❂ Free Electricity Scheme – ‘Gruha Jyoti’

Meanwhile, the Telangana government will provide up to 200 units of free electricity under the ‘Gruha Jyoti’ scheme. As officials distribute new white ration cards, many eligible citizens eagerly prepare to apply for this benefit.

⦿ Officials expect that registration will soon begin at MPDO and municipal offices.

⦿ However, electricity department officials say they are still waiting for official instructions from the government.

⦿ Once these instructions are issued, eligible beneficiaries will be able to register for the scheme.

❂ How to Apply for Free Electricity (Up to 200 Units)

To apply for the ‘Gruha Jyoti’ scheme:

1. Get the application form from:

⦿ The official government website

⦿ Nearest electricity office

⦿ Municipal office

⦿ Gram panchayat office

2. Fill in the required details and submit the form along with:

⦿ White ration card

⦿ Aadhaar card

⦿ Customer ID from a recent electricity bill

⦿ Residence certificate (if required)

3. Submit the form:

⦿ At the municipal office (urban areas)

⦿ At the gram panchayat or MRO office (rural areas)

❂ Important Conditions:

⦿ Monthly electricity usage must not exceed 200 units.

⦿ If consumption crosses 200 units, the full bill must be paid for that month.

⦿ No pending electricity bills should exist at the time of application.

⦿ The scheme applies to only one connection per family.

⦿ After submission, your details will be verified by the electricity department officials or local authorities.

 

The government is expected to implement the free electricity scheme very soon for all eligible beneficiaries.
