The month of August saw many holidays for students, and now September begins with more school closures in some states. Heavy rains, floods, and festivals have made state governments take safety measures for students. Here are the complete details of where schools are closed on September 1, 2025.

Punjab


In Punjab, schools and colleges were closed on August 30 because of floods. Districts like Pathankot, Amritsar, and Ludhiana are still facing continuous rainfall. The government has said that if rains continue, schools may remain closed on September 1 as well.

Jammu and Kashmir

Schools were already shut here till August 30. Classes for grades 9 to 12 are happening online. If the rain situation does not improve, offline classes may not start on September 1 either.

Telangana

The government had declared holidays on August 29 and 30 for schools, junior colleges, and degree colleges due to a red alert. Areas like Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, and Nizamabad are receiving heavy rainfall. There is a chance that holidays will continue on September 1.

Andhra Pradesh

Districts such as Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and Krishna are seeing heavy rains. The state government has not announced a statewide holiday yet, but local authorities may close schools in waterlogged areas for safety reasons.

Kerala

Onam holidays are already in progress in Kerala. Schools will remain closed until September 7, and classes will start again on September 8.

Himachal Pradesh

Continuous rains and landslides caused schools to shut in some districts on August 30. If the weather does not improve, holidays might be extended on September 1 as well.

Weather conditions are changing every day, so state governments are issuing notifications regularly. Parents and students are advised to rely only on official announcements and not on rumors.
