School Holiday on 18th September 2025 in These States; Here’s Why

School Holiday on 18th September:
Schools in many parts of India will remain closed on Thursday, 18th September 2025, following continuous heavy rains and regional festival celebrations. Several state governments and local administrations have declared holidays to ensure the safety of students and to allow smooth conduct of local events.

School Holiday on 18th September:

In Manipur, schools, colleges, and universities are expected to remain closed as the state continues to face floods and landslides. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of more rainfall over the next two days. Parents and students are advised to follow government updates regarding further closures.

In Uttarakhand, frequent cloudbursts and heavy rain have already disturbed normal life. Schools were closed earlier this week and the holiday may be extended. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for September 18, which makes it likely that schools will remain shut in several districts.

In Maharashtra, alerts have been issued for districts including Aurangabad, Nagpur, Ahmednagar, and Amravati. The weather office has predicted thunderstorms and heavy showers. However, no official order has been released yet. Parents should stay connected with school authorities for the latest announcements.

Festival-Related Holidays

Apart from weather conditions, cultural and religious festivals are also leading to school closures:

Punjab and Haryana: Some schools are closed due to local festivals earlier this week.
Rajasthan: Schools may adjust schedules later this month for Navratri preparations.
Telangana: District-level holidays may be given in view of Bathukamma, which begins on September 27.
Jammu & Kashmir: Schools in some districts will remain closed on September 23 for Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birth anniversary.
West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and Bihar: Partial closures are expected ahead of Durga Puja starting September 29.

September 2025 has been full of school breaks, either due to festivals or due to the prolonged monsoon season. While these holidays provide students with extra rest and time to celebrate traditions, safety during heavy rains remains the top priority. Parents and students should keep track of local administration orders and official weather alerts to stay updated.
