School Holiday on Aug 18:
Today, schools in many regions are closed for the fourth consecutive day. The August holiday season has been filled with numerous holidays, starting with Independence Day on August 15 followed by Sri Krishna Ashtami on August 16 and then Sunday on August 17. Now holiday continues on August 18 making it a long break for students and school staff.
In Chandigarh, the local government has announced that schools will remain closed on Monday, August 18. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria made this decision. He announced it during his speech at the Parade Ground on Independence Day, August 15, 2025.
This decision closes all government, aided, and private schools in Chandigarh on August 18. The holiday period will continue until August 19, 2025, when schools in Chhattisgarh plan to reopen. In Uttar Pradesh, schools closed from August 14 to 17, and most other states will resume classes from August 18.
This extended break has given students a chance to enjoy the festivities and the festive mood that comes with the holiday season. However, it also means that the educational schedule has been disrupted for a few days.
The holidays during the month of August are expected to be more frequent by making it a well-awaited time for everyone, from students to teachers.
