School Holiday Today in AP: Schools Closed Due To Cyclonic Rains

School Holiday Today in AP:
After enjoying a long Diwali break, students in Andhra Pradesh have received one more holiday today. Due to continuous heavy rains caused by a cyclonic system, the District Collectors of several regions have announced a holiday for schools on Wednesday. This brings the total to four consecutive holidays for students this week.

School Holiday Today in AP:

The Andhra Pradesh government had already declared three days of holidays for Diwali — Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Just as schools were expected to reopen on Wednesday, heavy rains started in several parts of the state, mainly in the Rayalaseema region.

Districts such as Tirupati, Chittoor, Palamaner, and parts of Nellore have been receiving nonstop rainfall since last night. The cyclonic effect over the Bay of Bengal has caused continuous downpours, making transportation and daily movement difficult in many areas.

Due to waterlogging and poor road conditions, the District Collectors have decided to declare a one-day holiday for all educational institutions in the affected regions. Students were informed about the holiday early in the morning through text messages and school WhatsApp groups.

Parents have been advised to check with their respective schools for confirmation, as some private schools may remain closed depending on the weather conditions in their area. Officials have also warned residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, as several low-lying areas are facing flooding.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the rains may continue for the next 24 to 48 hours in parts of southern Andhra Pradesh. The administration has also instructed emergency teams to stay alert and help people in rain-affected zones.

With this sudden decision, students are now enjoying an unexpected fourth day of holiday after the Diwali celebrations. However, education officials said that if heavy rains continue, more districts might extend school holidays further for safety reasons.
