School Holiday Today in AP:
Several parts of Andhra Pradesh have been witnessing heavy rainfall for the past few days because of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. According to weather experts, a new low-pressure area (LPA) is likely to form over the southeast and east-central Bay of Bengal on Friday, October 24, 2025, which may bring more rain to the state.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that this system could move west-northwestwards and intensify further by Saturday, October 25, resulting in heavy to very heavy rainfall in many districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from October 26 onwards.
Currently, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is active over the south Andaman Sea, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Due to this, the rainfall activity is likely to increase across various regions of the state in the coming days. Meanwhile, the existing low-pressure system over north interior Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka has moved toward south interior Karnataka and may reach the east-central Arabian Sea by Friday.
So far, there has been no official announcement from the Andhra Pradesh government regarding school or college holidays on October 25. However, if the weather conditions worsen, officials may consider declaring a holiday to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Education authorities have advised parents and students to stay updated through district education offices and local administration announcements. Any decision regarding closures will depend on rainfall intensity and safety assessments in affected regions.
Residents are urged to remain cautious and follow weather advisories issued by local officials and the IMD.
