School Holiday Today:
Schools and colleges in some parts of India are closed today, September 11, 2025 (Thursday). The closures are due to regional events, past weather disruptions, and local festivals. While many states have resumed regular classes after earlier holidays, certain districts are observing a holiday today. Here is the complete state-wise update.
Today, educational institutions in Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai districts of Tamil Nadu are closed to mark the 68th Remembrance Day of freedom fighter Emanuel Sekaran.
In Ramanathapuram, Paramakudi schools and colleges remain shut.
In Sivagangai, institutions in Sivagangai, Thiruppuvanam, Manamadurai, and Ilayangudi taluks are also closed.
To balance the academic schedule, September 20 (Saturday) will be a full working day for these schools and colleges.
There is no holiday today in Jammu & Kashmir. Instead, schools will remain closed tomorrow, September 12, 2025 (Friday), for Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.
Schools in Punjab were shut for almost two weeks earlier this month due to heavy floods. Most schools reopened on September 10, 2025. However, in Ferozepur and Fazilka, 66 government schools are still closed until safety inspections are completed.
In Kerala, schools had been closed from August 27 to September 7 for Onam festival holidays. Classes resumed from September 8, 2025, and are running as usual. There is no additional holiday today in the state.
Tamil Nadu: Holiday in Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai for Emanuel Sekaran’s Remembrance Day.
Jammu & Kashmir: Holiday tomorrow (Sept 12) for Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi.
Punjab: Most schools open, except 66 government schools in flood-hit Ferozepur and Fazilka.
Kerala: Regular classes after Onam break.
Today, September 11, 2025, is a holiday for schools and colleges only in selected districts of Tamil Nadu. Students and parents in other states should follow local district announcements for any last-minute changes in schedules.
