Solar Eclipse 2025:
A solar eclipse is an important astronomical event and also has significance in Hindu tradition. The next solar eclipse of 2025 will take place on September 21. This will be the second partial solar eclipse of the year. According to experts, solar and lunar eclipses in the same month are considered powerful in astrology. However, these beliefs are based on traditions, not on science.
The partial solar eclipse will start at 10:59 PM on September 21 and end at 3:23 AM on September 22. It will not be visible in India, so the rules like Sutak will not apply here. People in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Antarctica can see this eclipse.
What is a Partial Solar Eclipse?
In a partial solar eclipse, the Moon does not fully cover the Sun. Instead, it blocks only a part of it, making the Sun look like a crescent shape. This is different from a total solar eclipse where the Sun is completely covered.
Is it Safe to Watch?
Experts warn not to look at the Sun directly during an eclipse. The harmful UV rays can damage the eyes and cause permanent vision problems. If you really want to see the eclipse, use proper optical filters, telescopes, or binoculars designed for safe viewing.
Traditional Beliefs and Precautions
In India, many people follow certain spiritual practices during a solar eclipse. It is believed to be a good time for meditation and chanting. Pregnant women are often advised to stay indoors and take extra care. However, since this eclipse will not be visible in India, these precautions are not necessary.
Future Eclipses
This will be the last solar eclipse of 2025. The next major solar eclipse will happen on August 2, 2027, and it will be one of the biggest eclipses of the decade.
