Filmmaker Suneel Darshan has revealed new details about Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra’s alleged relationship. The two stars worked together in Andaaz, Aitraaz, and Waqt: The Race Against Time. They were also cast in Barsaat, but the film’s production hit a roadblock. Darshan confirmed that Akshay walked out after his wife Twinkle Khanna found out about the rumours. The director said he was forced to make a choice between the two stars, and he picked Priyanka. The story behind the scenes remained buried for years until now.
In an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani, Darshan said Akshay called him to his set something he rarely did. There, the actor addressed issues in his personal life and told the director to decide who would remain in the film. “I was told it was going to have to be either him or Priyanka,” Darshan recalled. “One beautiful song had already been shot with both of them. But when it was time for the final schedule, everything changed.”

The director blamed Akshay’s rising stardom and mounting film flops. “He started signing films without looking at who was directing them,” Darshan said. “That cost him his credibility.” Darshan claimed this led to a major gap in their collaboration.
