Telangana Factory Blast: The authorities have officially declared the eight workers who were missing in the explosion and fire at a pharmaceutical factory in Sangareddy district of Telangana dead.
The decision was taken because their remains could not be recovered due to the intensity of the blast. After extensive searches and forensic examinations, it was confirmed that the bodies of the missing were burnt beyond recognition in the massive fire that followed the blast.
44 bodies have already been identified. In addition, the missing Rahul, Venkatesh, Shivaji, Vijay, Justin, Akhilesh, Ravi and Irfan have been confirmed dead. The authorities have informed their families and instructed them to perform the last rites. The relatives have been assured that they will be informed as soon as any further information or findings are available.
DNA testing procedures are still ongoing. The massive blast took place at the plant of pharmaceutical manufacturing company Sigachi. A massive fire followed and dozens of workers were trapped inside. Initial findings indicate that the explosion was caused by some hazardous materials stored at the site. Serious concerns have also been raised about industrial safety measures.
