Travel India on a Single Train Ticket: All You Need to Know

Single Train Ticket:
Indian Railways offers many facilities for passengers, but one of the least-known options is the Circular Journey Ticket (CJT). This ticket allows travelers to visit multiple cities across the country with just one ticket, making long trips easier and more affordable.

Single Train Ticket:
A Circular Journey Ticket is useful for people planning pilgrimages, sightseeing tours, or long vacations. With this ticket, you can board and get down at up to eight different stations during your journey. The biggest benefit is that your trip begins and ends at the same station, making it a complete round journey.

For example, you can start from New Delhi and travel to places like Mumbai, Goa, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ooty, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, and Kanyakumari before returning to Delhi. Such a journey can cover thousands of kilometers and last several weeks. In fact, some circular tickets are valid for up to 56 days, giving travelers enough time to explore.

How to Buy a Circular Journey Ticket?

These tickets are not available online. Passengers must visit the nearest major railway station such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, or Chennai. At the reservation counter, you need to submit a form with details of your planned journey, including starting point, intermediate stops, and travel dates. The station master or reservation officer will then prepare your ticket.

Ticket Cost and Benefits

The cost depends on the distance and the class of travel you choose. However, these tickets are usually 20% to 30% cheaper than buying separate tickets for each city. The special telescopic fare system makes the overall price more economical.

Who Can Use This Ticket?

Pilgrims visiting temples, jyotirlingas, or holy places.
Tourists who want to explore multiple states in one trip.
Families and groups planning long tours or vacations.
Students or organizations arranging educational tours.

Advantages

Saves money compared to multiple tickets.
Offers convenience and flexibility.
Reduces time spent booking tickets at each station.
Perfect for families and group travel.

With a Circular Journey Ticket, exploring India’s diversity becomes easier, cheaper, and more enjoyable.
