Update Aadhaar For Free: Change Your Name, Address, DOB Easily

If you’ve changed your address or your phone number, you can now quickly update your Aadhaar information. UIDAI will introduce a much easier online method in November 2025. You can even make changes to your name, date of birth, address, and phone number from home! Updating your information this way is faster and we’ll have no lines!


 

Easy Document Verification
UIDAI will now be able to accept most existing government documents PAN, passport, ration card, as evidence for your identity. This means you don’t have to upload the same document over and over again. Thus, this will facilitate quick and easy verification of documents where the verification is instant because it is from Gov website.

 


New Acceptable Address Proof
You can now use utility bills (like electricity bills) as proof of your address. Sometimes the most updated evidence of an ongoing address is utility bills. We can finally put aside archaic formats of address proof (like rental agreements & passports) to allow more efficient updating of your address.

 

Free Address Change Offer
If you’re changing only your address, you will be able to do so free of charge at the myAadhaar portal. This offer is for only address changes and is time limited until June 14, 2026. If you are making these updates, please be sure your Aadhaar is linked to your mobile phone. Once your mobile phone is linked, this process will require an OTP sent to your mobile phone to qualify your changes.

 

Why should you Link your Mobile number?

Linking your mobile number is important and gives you access to your OTP for verification purposes. For many Aadhaar based services, the systems are all going mobile or digital. By linking and updating your details, you will find it easier with your access and safety.

 

New Mobile Aadhaar App Soon:
UIDAI are working on the development of a mobile app to make Aadhaar as mobile friendly as possible. The mobile app will provide you with a secure digital version of your Aadhaar with a QR code so you won’t have to carry a physical photocopy of your card.

 

You can also use the digital Aadhaar to access your KYC, and more importantly, you can now easily and securely share your Aadhaar information with a masked version.

 

Process to Update your Aadhaar Details

– Go to the UIDAI website or myAadhaar

– Select the detail you want to update (name, address, DOB, phone number).

– Upload or select government documents for verification.

– In the case of updating address, use utility bills if necessary.

– Enter the OTP sent to your linked mobile number.

– Submit your update request.
