War 2 vs Coolie First Day Collections: Today, the box office has turned battlefield because the two flips from two of India’s most awaited films of 2025 are released on the same day, War 2 and Coolie. Fans across the country thronged into cinemas, while early reports suggest that it is indeed a record-breaking face-off.
War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan as the main character, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani, opened to packed houses across much of the Hindi belt and metropolitan cities. This Ayan Mukerji-directed project is a part of YRF’s Spy Universe. The shows recorded an average 90% occupancy for the morning shows in North India and of multiplexes across Tier-1 cities.
The film ‘Coolie’ with Rajinikanth, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, had its first show at 4 AM all the way up to housefull boards in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Rajinikanth’s unmatched South Indian fanbase guarantees 100 percent occupancy in many single-screen theatres, making the celebrations outside look like a festive occasion.
As per early trade reports, War 2 has already grossed ₹52-₹55 crore from the morning and afternoon shows in India, with a high contribution from the Hindi belt, Telangana, and overseas.
Coolie hasn’t been far behind, collecting approximately ₹50-₹52 crore so far, buoyed by a staggering turnout in South India and very impressive bookings for the dubbed versions.
Industry experts are writing all up to the evening and night show performances to predict the winner of the day. While War 2 has the edge where premium multiplexes are concerned, it is the crazy single-screen audience of Coolie and the repeat-factored number of audiences that could narrow the gap or even top.

At this stage, War 2 holds a narrow advantage regarding first day collections, but Coolie is neck and neck in terms of frenzy from the fans and ticket sales in the South. Both films have massive word-of-mouth buzz going, so one or the other could turn the table on Day 2.
So, who really wins? The fans! This is two giant movie blocks clashing on the same day, which the fans get to pay to see.
