ATM Doesnt Give Cash:
Using an ATM is a part of daily life for most of us. However, sometimes due to technical issues, money may not come out of the machine even though the amount gets deducted from your bank account. This situation can be stressful, but there are clear steps you should follow without panicking.
If money does not come out after waiting for a few minutes, keep the transaction slip with you. If you don’t have the slip, keep the SMS alert or bank statement showing the deducted amount. These will help you when filing a complaint with the bank.
In most cases, banks automatically return the amount to your account within 24 hours. So, avoid panic and wait for the system to process the refund.
If the money is not credited back even after 24 hours, immediately contact your bank’s customer care. Provide details such as the ATM location, bank name, and transaction time. Usually, banks take up to seven working days to refund such amounts. If you are not satisfied with the customer care response, visit the nearest bank branch and file a written complaint. Ask for a complaint tracking number, which will help you check the status later.
As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, banks must verify such failed transactions and return the money within 45 days. If they fail to do so, the bank has to pay the deducted amount along with additional interest to the customer.
So, the next time you face this problem, remember to stay calm, keep records of the transaction, and follow up with the bank. Your money is safe and will be refunded according to RBI guidelines.
