Schools Remain Closed Tomorrow:
Due to continuous heavy rainfall across several districts of Tamil Nadu, many schools and colleges remained closed on Wednesday, October 22. The downpour has affected various regions, including Chennai and its neighbouring districts. Similar closures were also announced in Puducherry, Karaikal, and parts of Andhra Pradesh, as the weather department warned of a possible cyclone and continued rainfall.
As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding the closure of schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, or Andhra Pradesh for Thursday, October 23. However, if the bad weather continues, it is likely that educational institutions will remain closed for another day to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several districts, including Chennai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Ranipet, and Thoothukudi. Schools in these areas were shut on Wednesday and may continue to be closed tomorrow if heavy rainfall persists. The state government is keeping a close watch on the situation and will make further announcements depending on weather conditions.
In the Union Territory of Puducherry, schools in Puducherry and Karaikal were closed today due to continuous rainfall. Officials have not yet released any update on whether educational institutions will reopen on Thursday, as they await further weather assessments.
Andhra Pradesh has also been affected by the downpour. Schools in Chittoor, Tirupati, Nellore, and Bapatla districts were closed on Wednesday after receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall. Local authorities will review the situation before deciding on reopening schools on Thursday.

Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Ranipet: Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.
Vellore, Tirupattur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and Cuddalore: Heavy rainfall at isolated places.
A red alert has been issued for Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, and Ramanathapuram districts, while an orange alert has been declared for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and nearby areas.
Authorities advise residents to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve.
