The fruit originates from Devgad, a coastal village in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district. Besides Devgad, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts also cultivate the unadulterated fruit. Safeda Banganapalli
Banganapalli is grown in the state of Andhra Pradesh and is in full demand due to its massive size and weight. With juice and tinge, these are fibreless and chosen for making shakes. Available from March to June, each fruit weighs approximately 350 gm.
Dasheri
Dasheri is popular for its extreme sweetness and remains one of the most sought-after juicy varieties of mango. It is grown in different parts of North India and is also cultivated in Nepal and Pakistan. Dasheri came to India in the 18th century and first appeared in the garden of Lucknow Nawab.
Badami
This is the most popular mango variety grown in the state of Karnataka. The taste and texture is similar to Alphonso. It remains the favourite for Kannadigas.
Himsagar
Originating in West Bengal, Himsagar has a mesmerizing taste and aroma. Often found in medium-sized, it has no fiber. With a small seed and excess pulp, it is one of the most preferred varieties.
