City dwellers also shop at Charminar on special occasions. Personal vehicles, cars, and bikes go to the Charminar area to shop. However, the main problem faced by those shopping in the area is parking.
The lack of necessary parking arrangements, Make some vehicles park on the side of the road. Due to this, the traffic police issue challans to the vehicles and sometimes take the bikes in recovery vehicles. Due to this, the city residents had to think twice before going to the Charminar area in their personal vehicles for shopping. From now on, that tension is no longer necessary. Vehicles can be parked without any worries.
GHMC has taken another key decision to solve the parking problem in Hyderabad city. It has decided to build a multi-storey parking complex at Charminar bus stand on a public-private partnership (PPP). An announcement will be issued soon inviting private companies for this. Officials are also looking at sites for the construction of similar complexes in other parts of the city. A new parking complex will be built on an area of 4,000 square yards at the Charminar bus stand. This will be useful for tourists visiting historical monuments like Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, and Mecca Masjid. Many people currently park their vehicles on the roads due to lack of parking. This complex will be made available as a solution to this problem.
Less than seven years ago, GHMC had planned to build similar parking complexes in Charminar, GHMC Central Office, KBR Park, Madhapur Shilparamam, and Ameerpet areas. However, the project did not move forward. Now, with the new government coming to power, this project has come to the fore. GHMC Additional Commissioner Venugopal Reddy said that the complex is being constructed on a 4,000 square yard-vacant land at the bus stand. He said that marking is being done for parking on the main roads of the city. He said that GHMC is preparing plans to construct parking complexes at a total of 10 places under the PPP method.
