While US President Donald Trump continues to criticize the Indian economy, his personal businesses are thriving in India. Trump has said that “India’s economy is dead.” India is becoming a very profitable market for his Trump Organization.
Trump branded projects in India have already generated over Rs 175 crore in licensing fees. Plans are underway to expand the existing 3 million square feet of space to around 11 million square feet. This is a four-fold increase. It is noteworthy that India is the largest market outside the US.
The Trump Organization is acquiring properties in India through a brand licensing model without investing a single rupee. This means that Indian developers pay fees to use the Trump name on their projects. Construction, marketing, and management are all handled by Indian companies. Tribeca Developers (led by Kalpesh Mehta) is the lead partner. They are working with major real estate firms like Lodha, Panchshil, , M3M, and Unimark.
According to details revealed by Tribeca during the launch of the first Trump commercial project in Pune… The existing and upcoming Trump projects are expected to generate sales worth Rs 15,000 crore. This amount is likely to increase further. The reason for this is that projects will be launched in other cities as well. Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are executive vice presidents of real estate companies.
The Trump Organization, which has prioritized Hyderabad as part of its business expansion in the Indian market, has also launched a dedicated company here. On October 16, 2024, it revealed its strategic interest in the city by forming an entity called “DT Marks Hyderabad LLC”. This is a sign that the Trump Organization is looking at Hyderabad as a key destination, along with other cities.
